Moving Memories is a project to develop a series of film and cinema themed reminiscence resources as well as a team of trained reminiscence facilitators to use the resources across Norfolk.

Developed by Cinema City Education with support from the Norwich Archive Centre, Picture Norfolk, The Library Service, and a range of health care professionals including Age UK and the Norfolk & Suffolk Dementia Alliance.

In addition to utilising archive film, Moving Memories packs will include photos, activity suggestions and historical information as well as links to existing resources and recommended films for screenings all developed by education and reminiscence professionals. The project aims to create a resource around film and cinema for reminiscence and life story work in care homes and reminiscence sessions.

The project team will be trialling a pilot resource ‘At the Pictures’ with a specific focus on films and cinemagoing. You can have a look at our Moving Memories resource pack online here, we will be confirming details of where the resource pack will be available soon.

Resources will also be available to use at the new Screen Heritage Centre at Cinema City for visiting groups following the renovation of our existing education spaces. (Subject to a successful funding application for a wider project called Norfolk at the Pictures – developed with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund).
